L.A.M.B. Fall 2011 RTW

to close out New York Fashion Week, Gwen Stefani had the honor of doing so. my friends know how much i'm obsessed with this label. aside from the fact that i grew up listening to her as frontman for No Doubt, i basically idolized her as my hero ever since i first heard their second album ("The Beacon Street Collection") and fell crazy in love with their third ("Tragic Kingdom"), ALSO aside from the obvious truth that she can pull off platinum blonde hair with red lipstick anddddd pull off chocolate hazelnut with red lipstick (see Cool) i thought she was the coolest. chick. ever. EVER. (she still is). every year and every season, Stefani and her team produces orgasm-worthy salon shoes and the apparel isn't the least disappointing. she's a fine representation that we don't have to dedicate ourselves to one trend. one day, we can be a rockstar. the next day, a rasta "ragga muffin". and the next, a Charlie girl. we're entitled to transformation, even if that means we end up transforming 365 times a year. our kind is quite complex.

aahh! i love her!!!!

NYFW vids

someday.... i want to be at Lincoln Center and personally experience fashion week and rub shoulders with fashion's elites. but until that day comes, i have youtube and other sites (thank God). it's hard to grasp the essence of each collection unless you listen to the music, observe the way the clothes swing, and even the way the models strut their stuff down the catwalk. everything is coordinated by the designer, so it's important to watch. i picked out some of my faves from NYFW. not all are of the best quality but i tried to find the best...

L.A.M.B., Spring 2011

It's official. Gwen Stefani has a permanent spell over me. And I don't mind it at all. I've been a huge fan since I was a little kid, listening to "Tragic Kingdom" for the first time. That moment is still very vivid in my mind and I'll never forget it. This collection takes me back to the time No Doubt's "Return To Saturn" came out back in 2000 or something... she was all about color back then... but this is a more refined reflection of that Gwen. Like her previous collections, this one also has the Afro-Caribbean beat... but with more print. And lots of it. Not everyone can pull off prints but if Gwen says it's okay, then count me in. (she makes everything so cool.)

2010 Costume Institute Gala

my favorite picks are...

Jessica Szohr in Atelier Versace
(no Ed Westwick by her side. hmmm... her skin is glowing so beautifully though!)

Nichole Richie in Marc Jacobs

Joshua Jackson in Calvin Klein
(why does he look so good?! he's come a long way since his days on 'Dawson's Creek' and 'Mighty Ducks'. lucky girl, that Diane Kruger...)

Gwen Stefani in L.A.M.B. with Gavin Rossdale
(i swear she looks good at any age. there is a reason why she's been my hero since the third grade and still is... her hubby, Gavin, is gorgeous... as always.)

Brooke Shields in Michael Kors with Michael Kors
(yet another woman who looks good at any age. her brows are still worth dying for!)

Sienna Miller in Emilio Pucci
(one of my major style icons! she looks so adorable and sexy in this dress, all at the same time. no one else can do what she does. those shoes are killer... must find out who they're by.)

Vera Wang in Vera Wang with Mila Kunis
(though Mila's dress is a little distracting, Vera Wang looks stunning.)

Blake Lively in Marchesa
(so age appropriate, and so fresh. love it.)

L.A.M.B. Fall 2010 RTW

Every time the shows are parading through New York twice a year, there is one particular brand I am on the lookout for: Love Angel Music Baby by Gwen Stefani. Yes. L.A.M.B. is back and I am so relieved to see another collection done for Fall! When this brand started out four years ago back in Spring of 2006, it only showcased for Spring and not fall. I especially favor her looks not because she's been my role model ever since No Doubt came into my life sixteen years ago. Though she is one of my favorite music artists (Lady GaGa coming in second), her personal fashion style is one of my favorites. Over the last four collections, she hasn't disappointed me yet. This season, the blizzard made it difficult for models to make it in, but for Stefani it made it an obstacle to conquer. With several key items held back due to the storm, she had to compensate by enhancing her creativity (notice: leather belts linked together and wrapped around the body). This collection is pure signature Stefani: boudoir, fifties, military, rock & roll, vintage, and sexy. What's even better than her clothes? Her shoes. Be sure to check them out at Nordstrom the next time you're getting your Nordies fix. Brace yourself. You will have an O.
