Topshop Wardrobe Update!
I did some Spring Cleaning today, and realized that the aftermath of my hard work has shrunk my wardrobe dramatically. I did have a moment... a scary moment... but then thought, "I finally have a good reason to do some cc damage..." So I opened up my computer and did some online shopping :) Instead of the usual Urban Outfitters online buys, I made a detour around Topshop and purchased some key pieces for Spring! I'm soooooo excited, I just don't know what to do with myself. Now, to continue this adventure of cc damage, to J.Crew I go!

When I thoroughly "skim" my way through British Vogue every month, I can't help but to drool over Alexander McQueen tulle skirts, Burberry suits, Herve Leger bandaged minis, and Chanel knits. It's a piece of heaven... my kind of heaven... that is full of fashion orgasms without the O; It's an effing tease. I can't touch nor feel any of it but merely with my eyes can I imagine what it must be like to wear a direct creation of Karl Lagerfeld's or Christopher Bailey's. If I get that excited just by an editorial spread in a magazine, how.. can you imagine.. would I react if I had the opportunity to sit front row of fashion's biggest and greatest gods and goddesses' fashion shows? I'd piss my pants, crap my undies, and cry like an amateur. Not. Kidding. So anyhow, it wouldn't even matter if I was sitting front row because I can't afford a single piece of anything that goes on the runway anyway! Well, except for that Chanel polish #505 that everyone is after. But that's pretty much it.
For us average kidds with an average income and an average lifestyle, fortunately we have companies such as Uniqlo, H&M, and sometimes Forever 21 to compensate for fashion forward looks for a small fraction of the price of the original look. Although it won't be the real Alexander Wang jersey tops or the real Balmain military jacket, it's as close as we'll ever get to that key piece we full heartedly desire. Another one to add to your list must be Topshop. It is another alternative to get some edgy pieces into your wardrobe without breaking the bank. ANNDDD lucky for the Jacks, there's a men's collection called Topman.
I've gone a little Topshop mad and compiled my favorite picks for you. I did a post about the Spring/Summer collection not too long ago, but this consists of more single pieces than looks. I hope this inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and try something risque! Fashion should be FUN and not borrrring!!!
Topshop's Spring/Summer '10 Lookbook
So, one of my friends from college told me about Topshop a long time ago and I've been obsessed since. It's kind of like H&M... but 100x better. And this was long before they planted their first-ever US concept store in the US (NYC to be exact), and way before they started shipping online purchases across the pond. The only way my friend and I ever got anything from Topshop back then was through someone she knew who lived in the UK who's address she would use to send her purchases to, and then they would send it to us from them (the process was v. time-consuming and I'm not v. patient esp. when waiting for online purchases). Thank goodness for the crossover!
If you would like an alternative to XXI's low quality pieces and H&M's mundane style, but with a price that won't empty your pockets, I highly suggest either a) Make Topshop.com one of your must-see-and-buy sites (forget Nordies; it's so 2005), or b) Fly into NYC and go nuts at the store! But if you're still undecided and need a little more motivation, just enjoy the new looks for now and you can thank me later :)
