naturally i have an appreciation for Korean art, so naturally i'm smitten-ed by this cover featuring model Hye-Jin Han wearing
Damyeon. this is one of
15 covers for Vogue Korea's 15th Anniversary (so appropriate), but i particularly like this one above others. it shows the origin of traditional Korean garment, but has a contemporary display. Republic of Korea's fashion has come a long way since 1953, the supposed "end date" of the Korean War. in terms of modern lifestyle, there was little to none at that time. for the past 50-odd years, RoK took many efforts to catch up with the US, the then leading country of the world. today, their lifestyle surpasses ours tremendously and is constantly changing at an incredibly fast pace. it's hard to imagine that a country whose vast majority used to wear traditional garments as everyday-wear only 50 years ago, is now one of the leaders of fashion and art innovation.
