it seems like mr. Ralph Lauren went on a little evening gown escapade for the new season, and it's obvious where his inspiration originated from. i was reminded of a movie i saw some time ago called "The Joy Luck Club". there's a part in the movie that traces back to an era when Shanghai was as luxurious as the Hollywood hills (back in the day). this is an old-timer's glamor made new. after several seasons of "edgy" and neon brights, "awkward" and "so ugly it's too cool", it's only been a matter of time before we throw childish ambitions aside and simmer down to a more "ma-too-ure" state of fashion. is elegance and class a trend of the yesteryears? mmmmm... designers might say otherwise.
